Too small to drive your own landyacht? Want all of the family to join in but have children under 12yrs old? Our twin Land yachts are for one adult and one child aged 5-12. This is the perfect family experience where you can take turns steering and controlling the sail and race with all the family down the beach!

Land yachting combines the grace of sailing with the adrenalin buzz of
motor racing – imagine yourself sitting a few inches from the ground and racing
your friends and family across the sands at top speed. It requires no previous
sailing experience and the basic skills can be mastered within 15-20 minutes.

What you will learn

First, you’ll receive a full demonstration of how to sail the BloKart
Land Yacht  before going out to practice controlling the sail and
steering. You will learn how to turn, speed, up slow down and how to stop. When
you are ready, we will use cones to plot out a course for you to follow to
practice your turns. When you are proficient, we lengthen the course so you can
increase your speed. You can sail at 2x the wind speed so a 15mph wind =
sailing at 30mph! You’ll be given continuous tuition from your instructor
throughout the session, as your confidence builds and you start sailing faster
and faster. 

Itinerary

1. Meet us at the far end of the West Sands beach, St Andrews, where you
will see the Blown Away Land yacht trailer. To find this drive past the Blown
Away Shack this the third wooden building on your right as you drive down the beach road, you can call in here on your way back to see our
cool hoodies hats and T-shirts. 

2. Arrive 10 minutes before your session and we will get you checked in and size you up for a helmet and gloves if you require
them.

3. We'll head down to the beach and teach you the basics of sailing a land yacht.

4. You will be on the land yacht for just over an hour so visit the bathroom before suiting up, public toilets are available across the road from the Blown Away shack, and there are some more public toilets half way
down the beach road, they are the cream brick building on your
left.  

What to bring

1. Warm clothing, its going to be windy so dress appropriately. 

2. Socks and trainers for your feet are the best option. 

3. Sun cream (the sun is always shining in St Andrews!)

4. Glasses or sun glasses helps to keep the sand out of your eyes. 

5. A drink, after any exercise, it is important to stay hydrated.

Please take into consideration the weather, all of our sessions are weather dependant.
We take what we get and we don't get upset! We usually manage to make the
most of what the weather gods give us! If it is too windy or not windy enough
to land yacht, we will usually offer an alternative session time when the wind
looks more stable or if you only have this time slot available, we could also
offer a kayak, surf or paddle board session. Please keep an eye on your emails,
specifically a couple of days before your session, just in case we need to
